With more than 20 years’ experience in the tourism industry under his belt, Gerald Kolb, owner of Travel Time in Swakopmund, recently took over the helm at the ever-popular Charly’s Desert Tours, headquartered at the coast.

According to Kolb, all the favourite tours will stay in place, including the well-liked Living Dunes tours, which introduce Charly’s customers to the wonderful living desert, plus the half- and full-day tours to view the Welwitschia mirabilis plants and spectacular Moon Valley.

Based on a Travel Time favourite he introduced two years ago, Charly’s will now also offer guests a one-and-a-half hour tour through Swakopmund. Named the Swakopmund City Tour – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, this outing explores Swakopmund’s history, its current role as Namibia’s top coastal resort, and its future.

Kolb explains that he intends keeping Charly’s Desert Tours as one of the legendary institutions at the coast, which it has become since it was launched in 1966 by its celebrated founder, ‘desert fox’ Charly Gürtel.

All contact details for the company remain unchanged, except that the offices have moved to Kolb’s house.
