Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) welcomes all members of the media to attend a pre-opening of its new Visitor Centre. This larger, modern facility replaces the original building, which was destroyed by fire in October 2013. Tours and interviews with CCF spokespersons will be available on site. Media will also have the opportunity to photograph and shoot video of CCF’s resident Cheetahs exercising during a “Cheetah Safari” Drive.
Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, CCF’s new and improved Visitor Centre promises to enhance the overall experience for tourists, school groups and international guests. It will house a new Cheetah Café with an outdoor veranda overlooking the scenic Waterberg Plateau, a new Cheetah Gift Shop and new main Visitor Reception Area. The Visitor Centre will also house the ‘First National Bank’ Educational Classrooms and Conference Centre, and soon will be the home of CCF’s Genetics Laboratory, enabling visitors to see the research being done to help save the cheetah for future generations. CCF’s Research and Education Centre is open to the public, receiving visitors every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Christmas Day.
