And now for a dose of intellect – Orombonde’s lekkerte

Orumbonde – the Herero word for a camel-thorn pod and a ‘symbol of Namibia and lekkerte’ – embodies the most diverse bookstore in town.

Antiquarian, historian and master bookworm, Wolfram Hartmann, explains that Orombonde Books is a ‘quality bookstore that makes reading material you can’t find in an everyday bookstore’ available.

Recently expanded to create space for more literature and intellectual encounters, Orombonde cries king over the largest variety of books in English, Afrikaans, German, Dutch, French, Portuguese, and Spanish, and even hosts a few classical masterpieces in Russian, Finnish, Turkish and Japanese.

“Books have always served as one of the most powerful (and innocent) escapes from reality.” With Wolfram’s intellectual background – he is a sought-after historian, after all – you can ask him anything about everything history- or book-related, while enjoying the ideal, hands-on, book-browsing adventure.

Orombonde Books is situated at the main entrance of the Namibia Craft Centre in Tal Street, Windhoek. Open on Mondays to Fridays from 09:00 to 17:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00. Contact Wolfram at 081 148 8462.
