A landmark Women in Tourism Indaba was held last week in Windhoek, where a number of stand out women involved in the tourism sector were highlighted. With this series we tell each of their stories. 

Glenda Manthe-Grobler – Public Relations: Democratic Media Holdings

Glenda has worked for Democratic Media Holdings (DMH) for the past 25 years. OVer the years, she has worked in various positions in the Sales and Marketing Division of her company.

Currently, Glenda is the Public Relations Manager for DMH. As part of her portfolio, she does event organising of the subsidiary companies of DMH, including such influential newspapers as the Republikein, the Namibian Sun and Allgemeine Zeitung. 

Projects that Glenda has initiated and executed is the Namibia Advertising Awards (Gecko awards) 1996 – 2004. 

In the tourism industry, Glenda is well known for the passion and commitment she has plowed into the Namibia Tourism Expo, the biggest single project that she organises for DMH. This platform allows women (and men) in tourism to promote their products, to network with their colleagues and competitors. With Glenda leading firmly from the background, Namibia’s tourism industry is allowed to shine.
