His Excellency, Dr. Sam Nujoma, the first State President of Namibia, officially launched the Lüderitz Nest Hotel on Friday 24th April 1998. During these last 17 years, the hotel has welcomed and hosted Namibia’s other State Presidents, Prime Ministers, international and national guests, the media, Ministers, VIPs, regional governors, officials, business leaders, and during the last few years, the world’s leading champions in wind and kite surfing.

The Lüderitz Nest Hotel has played and continues to play a pivotal role in the promotion of Lüderitz as one of Namibia’s TOP10 TOURIST DESTINATIONS.

Since its launch, the hotel has won many awards including the PMRAfrica Diamond Arrow Award for NAMIBIA TOP RESORT HOTEL.

The hotel also contributes, directly and indirectly, to many local community projects aimed at the disadvantaged.
The idea behind the hotel was the brainchild of well-known Namibian hotelier Tom Mutavdzic and cleverly designed by Architect Deidré de Waal to ensure that all 70 rooms and 3 luxurious suites enjoy direct sea views.

Ulf Grünewald (HAN GM of the Year 2012) has been managing and motivating his team of friendly professionals from the 16th May 1998. Along with Tom, Ulf was very much involved with the construction of the hotel.
