A place to relax in Klein Windhoek

In September 2004 Dawie and Ruanda de Waal purchased Charlotte’s Guest-house, one of Windhoek’s oldest and most established facilities in the suburb of Klein Windhoek. Located within walking distance of five restaurants and two shopping centres, Charlotte’s Guesthouse caters for both the business and the tourist markets.

Since taking over Charlotte’s, the de Waal’s have renovated the five rooms. These include one single, one family and three double rooms. Each unit is individually decorated, has DStv satellite television, a refrigerator, coffee and tea facilities and a hairdryer. Dawie and Ruanda personally serve breakfast to guests each morning, while competent, trustworthy staff members are on hand throughout the day. They will arrange a taxi service, provide advice on side trips and organise meals, including traditional boere or farm meals, as requested.

With access to one of two kitchens and the braai place outside, visitors are welcome to take advantage of Charlotte’s self-catering facilities. “Guests, especially long-term guests and families, enjoy this option very much. We believe it is unique in Windhoek’s bed-and-breakfast market,” said Dawie.

Outside, in the relaxing, established garden, the de Waal’s have added a large Jacuzzi near the sparkling pool. Says Dawie, “All the guests talk about the atmosphere, how relaxing it is and how much they enjoy the garden.”

Secure off-street parking is available. Special long-term rates and contracts are offered and companies who send clients are eligible for special rates.
