Fiume Lodge – Grootfontein

Situated close to Grootfontein, Fiume Lodge’s Jörn Gressmann could have been a Bushman in a previous life. He speaks the language fluently and inspires guests to rave in long paragraphs in the guestbook about the special interactive experience he provides with the Ju/’Hoansi San.

Next to the inviting green lawns, immaculate garden (pride and joy of gardener/barman Joseph Wilbard) and Jörn’s speciality cooking (gemsbok, zebra and eland cordon bleu are favourites on the dinner menu), the Bushman experience is what evokes the most accolades. As one visitor wrote, “A very authentic tribe was made even more worthwhile by Jörn’s ability and command of the Bushman language.”

Jörn and his team also offer guests the opportunity to spend a day in the life of a Namibian farmer, and to go on game drives. The lodge is situated on a 1 400-hectare private game farm that is home to over 10 different big game species and an array of smaller mammals. The capacity of the lodge is currently being expanded with two additional units to cater for families.
