Tourism is everybody’s business – and that proved true once again, as people from all of Namibia’s private and government sectors, from tourism, business, entertainment, food & wine, arts and craft, furniture, cars and many more, came together yesterday to open their doors and show Namibians and the world what is on offer at the 16th annual Namibia Tourism Expo 2014.

At this year’s Expo, 280 exhibitors have worked hard to showcase their wares and services for a full four days from 04 to 07 June at the showgrounds in Windhoek!

Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) launched

At the opening of the Expo yesterday, Monica Kalondo, Chairman of the former Democratic Media Holdings, launched the brands new corporate brand, Namibia Media Holdings (NMH).

She said she was proud to launch the Expo, which is hosted, organised and marketed by NMH and its brands, Republikein, Namibian Sun and Allgemeine Zeitung.

Kalondo said the Expo reflects Africa’s rich storytelling heritage “of communicating and telling stories to everyone, so that everyone can enrich their lives with knowledge, understanding, compassion and respect”. She said for centuries, stories have been shared around the campfires of Africa “and ensured that the community felt a sense of belonging and harmony when these stories are discussed and debated”.

She said that the Namibian Tourism Expo “is one of many campfires we have created in this beautiful country in which we help communities to share their stories. We are proud to be part of the tourism industry in sharing their stories with Namibian at this very unique event”.

The purpose of the Expo, is for visitors and exhibitors to engage with each other, and to share their stories. But most importantly, Kalondo said, is her wish that Namibian “continue to share the beautiful story of this country”.
