Strand Hotel welcomes you to pay a visit – if your curiosity doesn’t get the better of you first, here’s Strand Hotel’s 5 reasons why they believe food tastes better by the sea…[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
1. Salt water
Food tastes better by the sea plainly because it is near the salty water. Our sense of smell and sense of taste is linked to one another and therefore the fresh, salty ocean breeze will affect your sense of taste. If you like the way that the ocean smells, you will enjoy the food there even more.
2. Fresh air
The same argument of sense of smell and taste being linked applies here, but right now with the summer heat taking over inland, the cool air at the coast is a treat. What better way to enjoy your food than with a cool breeze blowing in your face straight out of the Atlantic?
3. Sea salt
Sea salt enhances the flavor of your food and brings the taste of the ocean to whatever you eat. All salt is actually sea salt, but the difference between sea salt and normal table salt is that sea salt contains more minerals and is fresher. Salt must go through purification processes before it can be used in food, but sea salt retains trace elements only found in sea water.
4. Environment
There are many other factors that affect flavor besides taste and smell, the environment is one of them. This is largely a psychological factor, but it is believed that the close proximity to the sea, the salty smell of the air and the sound of the crashing waves will all lead you to enjoy your food more.
5. Memory
This might just be the most important of the reasons. if you enjoy the sea and associate your meal with an enjoyable memory of the setting, you will remember the food as more enjoyable.
