On October 1, Team Namibia opened up the lines for Namibians to take part in a voting campaign to select the new Team Namibia logo. And to vote is easy. Namibians can either send an sms with your chosen logo (Logo A or B) to 5001 or click through an easy App on Facebook.
The two logos were designed to create a strong emotional link between Namibians and locally produced products.
Lizette Foot, General Manager of Team Namibia, said that after a decade, it was time to update the current logo. She also explained that by involving Namibians, in particular young Namibians, Team Namibia hopes to create and increase loyalty and awareness towards local products. She said the logos were designed to engage Namibians and to create national pride and appreciation.
“We want consumers to vote for what they think represents the Namibian spirit”. She said the campaign is targeting young Namibians in particular, as they have the power to bring about change.
Tarah Shaanika, Team Namibia’s Chairperson, said that the campaign is about the belief that “change comes from taking action, so we want to give young people the opportunity to take action and tap into their sense of national pride. If we can get the younger generation to believe in Team Namibia
