Namibian government and people lauded for conservation successes

October 29, 2013At the relaxed and culturally infused opening of the Adventure Travel World Summit 2013 (ATWS 2013) at the Parliament Gardens on Saturday, Uahekua Herunga, Minister of Environment and Tourism welcomed the 650 plus delegates who had travelled to Namibia to attend the summit.
The Minister stressed the close involvement and great working partnerships between a host of stakeholders during the preparations for the summit. He said “we don’t have large budgets and marketing – for us this is a national initiative. As part of the bidding process, Team Destination Namibia inspired all from parliament, inspired communiteis, inspired the private sector and indeed inspired a national … “.
He said that the preparations were infused everything that was done to make sure the 2013 ATWS. And he added “now we have established a partnership with all the tribe members who came to the land of the brave to taste, sample, experience and feel what this ancient land is all about”.
The Minister concluded his talk by saying “Namibia is ready to serve you, Namibia is ready to share with you, Namibia is ready to embrace you once again you are welcome to this ageless Land”.
Delegates on Sunday and Monday made their way to Swakopmund, the Adventure Capital as the town has been hailed. Official summit proceedings kick off today.
